Page 241: I bring you the following piece from the introduction of the above book; Signs of intelligence: understanding intelligent design (By William A. Dembsky, and James M. Kushiner). Page 18: consider the following remark made by Harvard biologist Richard Lewontin in the New York review of books Jan 9, 1997 ;31 entitled 'billions and billions of demons' (Reviewing the book The demon haunted world: science as a candle in the dark).
"We take the side of science in spite of the patent absurdity of some of its constructs, in spite of its failure to fulfill many of its extravagant promises of health and life, in spite of the tolerance of the scientific community for unsubstantiated just-so stories, because we have a prior commitment, a commitment to materialism. It's not that the methods and institutions of science somehow compel us to accept a material explanation of the PHENOMENAL WORLD, but on the contrary, that we are forced by our a priori adherence to material causes to create an apparatus of investigation and a set of concepts that produce material explanations, no matter how counterintuitive, no matter how mystifying to the uninitiated. Moreover, that materialism is absolute, for we cannot allow a divine foot in the door."
IN OTHER WORDS, SCIENCE MUST MAKE UP WISHY WASHY BOBA MAYSES, NO MATTER WHAT, AS LONG AS YOU KEEP G-D (AND SPIRITUALITY) OUT OF THE PICTURE.
And that's why you will never hear about Noah's Ark, which is sitting on top of Mt. Ararat in Turkey. And that's why you will never hear about the Piltdown Man, which was all over every science textbook in the 40-50 years before it was exposed to be a hoax. My father remembers the day (in the 50's) when the scientist who discovered the Piltdown Man was laying on his deathbed, and he admitted that the whole thing was a hoax. It was front page news all over the place. But now you will never see a thing about the Piltdown Man. See if you can find one college kid who knows about it.
Contrast this with the people in the Torah, where every persons mistake gets magnified a hundredfold, for everyone to see. The Torah is not scared of anything, but science is very scared. They're scared of the truth!
